Indo-Pak 'Mission Dosti' Wrestling

Katra, Oct 15 (UNI) It was a celebration time for the Indian wrestlers and the enthusiast crowd as the main bout clinched by the grappler Vijay Pal of Uttar Pradesh helped India to retain Indo-Pak ‘Mission Dosti’ wrestling title during a dangal competition held at Vivekananda Stadium in holy Katra town of Reasi district.
The dying minutes of the final bout claimed the prestigious title for India when Vijay Pal, Rustam-e-Uttar Pradesh played a trick and defeated the Pakistani wrestler SAF Games gold medalist Bashir Bhola Bhala of Sialkot.
"Wrestling ... should be promoted at all district, village and Panchayat levels by the Government so that more and more youngsters come forward in wrestling."

As the 13 minutes ended resultless, Indian wrestler made all efforts to defeat Bashir in the last minutes.
The crowd, however, cheered the bout and lifted the winner in air and garlanded him when the results were declared last evening.
''I am feeling good after winning the bout even though it was tough for me to outplay the experienced wrestler from Pakistan,'' Vijay Pal told reporters after winning the bout.
He said wrestling is only one of the events being organised annually during Navratra Festival but it brings two nations closer.
''Wrestling is a rural sport and it should be promoted at all district, village and Panchayat levels by the Government so that more and more youngsters come forward in wrestling,'' the grappler added.
Meanwhile, Bahir Bhola expressed that he felt like home after reaching Katra.
''All the wrestlers were given a warm welcome by the organising committee. I think such events should continue as they not only connect people but also maintain peace and love between two countries,'' he said.
Minister for Sports R S Chib, who was the chief guest on the occasion, presented traditional 'gada' to the winner and endorsed the idea of inculcating sports at grass root levels.
